class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The research is focused on the <b style=\"color: #32620e;\">issue of mercury pollution in the environment<\/b>, which is particularly hazardous to both <b style=\"color: #32620e;\">human health and animals<\/b>. <b style=\"color: #32620e;\">Mercury levels<\/b> in the <b style=\"color: #32620e;\">atmosphere and oceans <\/b>are currently <b style=\"color: #32620e;\">up to 500% above natural levels<\/b>, according to the European Environment Agency paper &#8220;Mercury in Europe&#8217;s Environment &#8211; <b style=\"color: #32620e;\">A Priority for European and Global Action<\/b>.&#8221;<\/p><p>The threat posed by mercury to both <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">individuals and ecosystems<\/b> is significant. As soon as <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">mercury vaporization<\/b> enters an open area, it swiftly permeates the surrounding area. This contributes to <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">environmental degradation and contamination<\/b>. When <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">metallic mercury<\/b> enters water reservoirs, bacteria found inside the mule convert it into organic mercury (<b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">methylmercury<\/b>). It is a substance that is soluble in fat and builds up in the body.<\/p><p><b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">Predatory fish<\/b>, such as cod, sharks, and tuna, have organisms that have particularly <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">high levels of methylmercury<\/b> (the higher in the food chain, the greater is the mercury content). This is going to be achieved&nbsp; by providing informational support through a <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">communication and cooperation platform<\/b>, organizing a widespread informational and educational campaign and behavior <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">change activities<\/b>, using a behavioral insights approach, and creating <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">Mercury-Free City Communities<\/b> in the target area.<\/p><p>Four towns with similar characteristics will serve as the project&#8217;s test sites: Lodz and Kracow in <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">Poland<\/b>; Lodz and Ivano-Frankivsk in <b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">Ukraine<\/b> (a country that has not yet ratified the Minamata Convention); and Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine. The control cities and replicators of the initial project findings will be three more cities: Larissa (<b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98, 14);\">Greece<\/b>), Evora (<b style=\"color: rgb(50, 98,
